Sand is a great tool to have when you are traveling this winter. It will give you the traction you need to hopefully get out of a slippery situation as you navigate the Columbus, OH region. Cat litter will also do the trick, but be sure to use litter that is not clumpy or you could end up with a gooey, slippery mess. That can actually defeat the purpose of having to use kitty litter in the first place.

Instead of kitty litter, you can use sand to add traction on your driveway, although like kitty litter, sand does not melt ice. Your third option is salt, or a combination of salt and kitty litter or salt and sand. Salt can actually rust your vehicle if you do not was your car soon after driving over it. If you do use salt, be sure to give your vehicle a car wash promptly.

We want to wish you safe travels this winter from all of us here at Hatfield Subaru, and remind you to keep an emergency kit in your vehicle at all times. Make sure to also keep some cat litter, sand, or salt in your vehicle in the winter months in case you get stuck.
